another previous post...
well, wala lang na naman... i just want to post this... another post that came originally from my first blog...
-----
OF KIDLAT TAHIMIK AND OF BATAD earlier this day, i was able to get a glimpse of the 2nd Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival Awards night. It was a whole night of extravagance minus the "Oscar-ish Glam" that the filipino audience expects to find from an awards thing. It was cool in its own way.. well, it is different and can be appreciated by those who would want to taste something, uhmmm, different!!
kidlat tahimik or should i say, the often enthused kidlat tahimik of akie yano, started the show with a "revealing" disrobing of his pants showcasing his bahag. he was carrying around a bamboo camera and said he would give it as a special award to a film he liked the most... it was fun... he also told an anecdote of his way of teaching in the UP film institute.
"i often ask my students to not come to class for 3 weeks. i tell them, for 3 weeks, bring your cameras and film anything that you want."
uh.. the glory that was being a film student!!!! AKIEEEEEEEE!!!
first awards were distributed to the short film category finalists. there was an enormous number of finalists for this category i should say...
-putot (best director)
-orasyon (best short film)
-gee gee and waterina
caught my attention.. PUTOT is photographed beautifully.. i forgot the best screenplay awardee but i know it is also one of those few that i find worth cinemalaya-ish. bleh..
among the full length films, i liked Saan Nagtatago si Happiness?, Batad sa Paang Palay, MUdraks, Ang Huling Araw ng Linggo and TUlad ng Dati (a little bit)..
Saan Nagtatago si Happiness, because of its title.. ehehe and the fact that it is a musical. Nanette inventor is such a character.. i adore her voice.. one time i watched her belting "respect" in a morning show and she definitely got my respect!! (like she badly needed mine...)
BATAD SA PAANG PALAY is really my bet... it won the 1 million peso coveted Special Jury Prize award from RoadRunner (ang alam ko sarado na yun ah!!) Alcris Galura won the best actor award... though i've just seen a clip of the film, he really DESERVES the award... by the way, he is just my age.. (how dare him!!!) i have seen him one time in a GMA Lenten presentation of "Ang Lagusan" and i really find him sensitive and definitely effective as an actor (pusher siya dun eh..) i want to watch the film because there's this "bakit ba gustung gusto mong magkaroon ng sapatos" and "akin to eh, akin to" stuff going on... bwahahaha.. ALCRIS GALURA!!! thumbs super up.. kaso lang, when he received the award i heard another Lamberto Santos in the making... plus factor is the Noni Buencamino addition to the cast..
MUDRAKS... because RIO LOCSIN is RIO LOCSIN!!! need i say more???
TULAD NG DATI?? Jet Pangan is a good thing... eheheh.. i like the dawn eh.. and it won the screenplay and best film award so i think it deserves approbation... plus, i like the premise.. jett pangan has amnesia, it is 2006 and not 1988 basta..so many things that i really don't know about but i like this line...
JETT PANGAN: (to Mylene Dizon) Mahal Kita
AGOT ISIDRO: Jett, Im your wife
JETT PANGAN: pero siya ang mahal ko, SIYA ANG NAAALALA KO...
wehehehe.. greatness amplified!!! hehe..
the whole awards thing made me feel so filmmaker.. (hala o!!)
so many things came up.. bembol roco's comedic antics <(i don't know what really happened because im on the phone with jennifer..).. i admire bembol roco... kahit nag-Sa Piling Mo siya.. haaaay... >, the PEPOT ARTISTA AND MAXIMO OLIVEROS stars' "stuttery" reading of the nominees and the winner and all that..
but to them it looks like they're wearing this shirts saying don't blame us, we're no awards show hosts" and it gave this "hell with it, we are revolutionaries of philippine cinema, leave it to the oscars"-feel to it.. and with that, i wanted to be friends with them... ahahahaha... seriously..
every award is tantamount to a recognition of everybody's utmost effort and cerativity.. every applause is sincere (though my canned applause pa rin!!)and every exaltation from the members of the audience appeared to be an honest " yeah you're job is really flawless, go grab the award" statement..
i juuuussttt... haaay... i want to my film to be as applauded as theirs.. if only... never mind..
cinemalaya is really something i look forward to.. and the awards night is so unpretentious.. so fun.. so malaya... so Cinemalaya... wehehehe...
ay... kanina nga pala...
nakasabay namin ni joana sa fx yung symmetrical-faced creature na nakikigamit ng classroom namin every computer time... i just don't know why but he seem to have an "im a different specie, fear me" aura plastered in him, he makes me terribly scared... yun tipong, nambubugbog ng mga domestic helpers sa bansa nila... ehehe.. pero we talked to him, thanks to joana's fear and initiative, we became friends na.. and he's nice pala... and we talked until we reached pedro gil... he's quite proficient in english naman considering his really short six months stay pa lang here in the philippines.. and take note, he'll take commerce or business course ata in the US after he learns english in UST... waaahhh, manggagamit!!
nakita din pala namin yung other former korean classmate namin.. si young jun.. si alex!! shocking is his exterior.. he's a lot darker, not the "botswana" dark naman, but his skin is not as pale as dati but he is totally well built.. trim and slim sabi ni joana... at sabi ko na nga ba eh, soccer lang ang katapat nun e.. he said that every friday he goes to UST to play soccer.. how... haayy na lang..
yun lang.. ang haba naman...
siya nga pala...
SUKOB NA BUKAS... WAHAHAHAAH...

previous post din...
another entry from my formewr blog,
parasiticexistence....
------
URIAN!!!last night, before my daily dose of BITUING WALANG NINGNING (woaah... i can see a lot of raised eyebrows.. wait till i make a post about it...) , i was able to get a glimpse of the recorded tv special of the Gawad Urian Awards Night (err.. not a really a mere glimpse... i was glued for some time on the television... the last thing i know, lavinia is already driving dorina away... that bitch!!!)
i love watching awards shows... although awards shows no longer count in our present society, about the philippine film industry being in its dire strait and all that blahs.. Gawad Urian is really something different of all the awards shows... not perfectly different... but at least... uhmm different (DIFFERENT today is really something to look forward to..)
Urian's choice of films are really "THE" films to watch for... not just because most of the films that got the critics' nods are digital (go friends!!! ahahah..) but because maybe in every category, you'll really get to agree that the nominee deserves to be called a nominee.. wehehe...
Urian for 2 years already, i think, had recognized films that the MMFF, GOLDEN SCREEN and the FAP failed to give recognition... of course, most of the films that got nominated and actually got the coveted award are my favorite titles... wehehehe...
--------
1.
Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (best film for UFO Films, best screenplay for Miss Michiko and other bests... XD )
2.
Sa Aking Pagkakagising mula sa Kamulatan (best supporting actor for ketchup eusebio)
3.
Ang Daan Patungong Kalimugtong (best director for mes de guzman )
4.
La Visa Loca (best actor for robin padilla... i like carlo aquino to win... *sigh)
5
. Nasaan Ka mAn... (charlie peralta, cholo laurel, claudine barretto, gloria diaz, hilda koronel and jericho rosales all deserve exaltation... scre you diether!!! you... *tututut...)
6.
Ilusyon ( for jaycee parker's "modelo" acting and yul servo's nothingness.. ehehe)
7.
Big Time (for most of the technical aspects... i haven't watched it e...)
and others...
although there are still these oh so fake canned applause, the awards show is really organized and not lengthy... maybe because mostly GMA people did their things there...
it was really organized and not so "kasulasulasok" unlike others...
masaya kasi ka-level ng mga mainstream yung mga maliit ngunit mahahalagang pelikulang higit na karapat-dapat tumanggap ng pagkilanlan...
did i just ??? ... whatever...
*to the manunuri ng pelikulang pilipino... KUDOS!!!!!
*sumisipsip...

previous posts...
because i have made a very drastic change with my blog... (the first one being the black and white stuff that michelle adores) i lost the previous entries that i have already entered and actually loved at that time... wait, now im blabbering...
you will actually read the previous entries that i have written on my first blog... , well, the meaningful ones...
this first one is all about the SUKOB event with my clique... wehehehe...
wala lang...
----------
THE GLORY THAT WAS "SUKOB"
----------
~the date was July 29... my heart kept on pounding heavily as six o'clock drew nearer and nearer.. my heart seemed to explode... my excitement is driving me nuts... GOD!!! what to do??!!!
waaaahhhhh... enough of those literary attempts and other blah blahs...
its risa's big day!!! the girl just turned 18!! uuuyyy...
i cannot just tell you how exhilirated i am about the SUKOB event of our clique...
i cannot even tell you how big a chito rono fan i am... from Dahas (Maricel Soriano, Richard Gomez), dekada '70 (vilma santos, christopher de leon), la vida rosa (rosanna roces, diether ocampo), yamashita (danilo barrios) and of course until the horror film that braved all qualms about filipino moviemaking, feng shui (kris aquino, jay manalo)...
****
jennifer suggested risa to just have her birthday celebrated in enchanted kingdom.. personally i am more thrilled to have her bash here... eheheh... and because of the weapons of deterioration from mother nature aka henry, i suggested to just catch a flick.. well, that's what i'm really planning... (what leo wants, leo gets!!! hahahaha)
and so my saturday was filled with optimism for the awaited moment... eat bulaga just passed by like a nanosecond and the next thing i remember, i am already getting ready for 6 oclock...
risa was so early.. as early as 2 in the afternoon, she said she was already at Market MArket.. it was not a surprise however... well, i just hurried and slipped into my pants and shirt and rush our way to herson's house.. mariel was there, with her glittery shirt (wahahaha)...
we rode a taxi going to eastwood city... first went to the cinemas to get our movie tickets... we arrived at around eight or something so we took the 10 o'clock showing... it was the last full show... we hang out for a while in the cinema lobby taking endless snapshots of ourselves... (herson,, braving all the odds taking his photo beside jennifer aniston in the enormous "the break up" poster.. i should have taken mine also... *sigh)..
mario, karolle and jennifer arrived at last at about 8:40 or so then the photo sessions continued... heheh...
we also went near the "statue" man... you have to put a coin or a bill in his box so he can move for you.. blah.. why do i have to pay you?? gumalaw ka kung gusto mo...
minutes passed and we all decided to just have our dinner.. good thing "PRINCE OF JAIPUR" is just a minute or so walk from the cinemas so we setled for indian cuisines..
the place was cozy... a little dark for me... wahah.. but it takes them forever before accommodating us.. hmp.. the man who spoke in "parseltongue" (woaah.. no he just spoke a language that sounds reeeeaaalllly weird... ) took a piece of his time trying to get our orders... ken, mariel and risa is in charge of the food and mario, jennifer, karolle and i were to choose the drinks... i chose green mango juice first but badly, they ran out of it... *another sigh... so, presured as i am, i just chose the most common of them all, the special blended iced tea... karolle joked a lot about choosing perrier for her drinks... (it was the 160 peso-imported bottled water.. can you imagine that??)
it took the staff ages before putting our orders placed in our table... ohh, i almost forgot, they also let us try an appetizer i think which looks like FRIED TISSUE PAPER.. with matching three varieties of "sawsawans" the first being the mixed vegetable, then the mango ekek, and the green blah blah.. it tastes like "vinegar pusit" only spicieerrrr!!! indians are so for the spicy stuffs.. acckkk!!!
the was fine... so indian... i ate quite a lot but i only took two serving spoons-full of their rice.. the rice is weird.. it is "buhaghag" and thin but it tastes good... there's the ulam that tastes like chicken curry, there're the prawns, and the others were fish turned into chicken curry-like dish.. "coooll"...
well, mario, karolle, risa and i went up to see the fuss about the comfort room.. they said it looks outstanding... we went there and really saw why... it looks regal.. and soo, pang-mayaman... ehehe... photos, photos and phots again... going down, we saw jennifer asking the waitress saomething and as we reached the table she declared her plan... we are each going to try the "alcoholic" beverages on the menu... groaaaannnnnn for me but hooorraaahh for mariel!!! ehehehe... there are six or seven different stuffs laid before our eyes...
i only remembered quite a few...
1. sex on the beach (or sex on that bitch!!! i don't know eh...)
2. cosmopolitan
3. blow job (only mariel, risa and jennifer tried this... ahahaha good thing!!)
i forgot the other drinks...
ohhh... time for the bill... it cost risa Php 3, 035.oo but with the 12% vat it sums up to Php 3, 338.00.. its a little lower than karolle's bill in greenbelts' RED BOX...
time for the movies... SUKOB!!!!!!!!!!! (shit!!! the exclamation key got stock!! ahahaha...)
we are to go at Cinema 1.. we entered the movie house with the trailers coming...i'd like to watch The Ant Bully, The Monster House and surprisingly, the new Star Cinema chic filick, "You Are the One".. it topbills Toni Gonzaga and the "pa-cute na kasi sinasabihang guwapo" Sam Milby... Toni is Sam Milby's salvation.. she is such a good comedienne... Eugene Domingo is also there... i love her...
woaaahh!! the lights were turned off na.. SUKOB will start!!!
then, a different Carmina-musical score dons our ears... good!!! it can be a dance hit.. ehehe..
the start of the film can make you doubt if it is a good film because kris aquino starts the "don't worry-i'm famous na-they won't notice it anymore" acting.. i like it because liza lorena is there.. boots anson roa is also present as the "bothered" wife of anpother favorite ronaldo valdez...
acting wise, it is fine... claudine barretto deserves applause for her versatile performance... she really looked like a barrio lass, a maputi version nga lang but she made me feel like she is really a timid province woman.. plus, she is soooo pretty... kris aquino's acting is just soooo... uhmmm.... kris aquino.. yun tipong you'll not notice it na lang because she is the already famous kris aquino, why do you mind pa if she can act... she can.. but there are scenes that work for her and scenes that really don't .. claudine overpowers her in some scenes.. in fact, there's a scene where the both of them are present and they have to look troubled, claudine was "lighted" and kris is hidden in the dark to add up to the emotional turmoil that envelopes her... in directing, you do that if the actor cannot give you the emotions you need from her or him.. but i give credit to kris for one scene where she acted superbly..
ronaldo valdez is the surprise comedic act there... i also laughed at that scene where the people exploded in laughter but i don't understand why they couldn't get the reason why he acts that way... it is not supposed to be a joke or another "uro dela cruz-kind of horror with comedy". it is already his denial stage... i should not go further before i spoil you the whole thing.. boots anson roa is plausible for her portrayal.. the one scene in helen's house is just woowwww... liza lorena was fair... wendell ramos, is fat!!! wahahaha.. he doesn't need to act naman e... glaiza de castro is greeeeeeaaaattt!!! i really like this girl since her maalaala performance... maja salvador surprised me although there is still kunot-boo school of acting visible... *sigh...
story, is good not so great because there are loopholes... why did the curse already happen while claudine is getting married... ohhh... i don't want to really tell.. watch it..
script.. is flawed but you'll forgive chito rono and chris martinez for that... cinematography is great not as great as ja tadena!!! ehehe... eli balce is good in separating the two worlds of kris and claudine... kris' pores are visible .. claudines' face is so makinis.. haaayyy... the musical score is a good point taht adds up to the terror factor... but you can hear feng shui in the movie... same person working er..
directing is good if not absolutely good... i notice chito rono's technique to make the people scared when he wants us to be.. he makes you look at the characters' eyes before something happens... there are a lot of close ups... then he makes the horror thing unpredictable... looking into the eyes of the film characters makes the audience feel a feeling of burden and guilt.. a little of dramatic irony in the movie..
all in all.. the movie delivers... good thing chito rono makes the horror genre raise its bar a considerable height... wahahaha.. i love it...
and i know the people did....
when i watched it for the second time, i got annoyed by all those magbabarkadas... who laughs their butts out when they doesn't understand a point or two from the movie... aaackk!!! dumb people need to be dead
my little brother got scared and wahahahaha... my sister too..!!!! ehehehe..

why i loathe wowowee..
"loathe" is a huge word for me... la lang..
everyone knows (er.. those who really "know" me) how i favor GMA 7 over the poor ABS CBN (like they care naman noh..)... actually, i really don't know why... kapuso lang talaga ako although admittedly, i have watched abs cbn way back in my childhood... (there's a little bit of abs cbn in everyone's childhood i suppose...) you know the glory days of sineskuwela, hiraya manawari, bayani and up to mga munting pangarap ni romeo, cedi to zenki. I remember being obliged by our teachers in public school to scribble down the moral lesson flashed in every episode of hiraya manawari. sajid bulig and his hopiang monggo is still my favorite episode in bayani. i remember the picture of my mother carrying us to her amigas just to catch the shows through their televisions when ours was un-available... wahahaha..
i could not elaborate more (if elaborate is really the right term) how watching abs cbn in our then black and white, cable-less television has made me the person i am today... waahahahaha... i applaud them for that...
*this blog entry would be filled with so many "i-don'tknow" phrases, i'm warning you, but since you're already reading this na, i might as well proceed...*
---
mabalik lang tayo sa title... "why i loathe wowowee!!" not that may personal grudge ako sa abs cbn or something... basat everytime i flip the channel to station 2, i always can't help but get mad or even outright furious (really!!) to those poor people who allows wowowee to step on their dignity makakuha lang ng "barya", "makaahon" if i would use the term that i oftentimes hear from their mouth...
reminiscence, reminiscence, reminiscence...
one time, after laughing my heart out at the bulagaan portion (walang kokontra!!) of one of my guilty pleasures (wehehehe, another blog entry i should say...), eat bulaga, i chanced upon wowowee and i guess it was the portion where the overrated-by-the-poor-classless-people and "glorified" host, willie revillame, was scouting for those who would be part of the "biga10"...
"yun yun part na nagbu-boom tarat tarat yung mga maralitang nagmamakaawang mabahagian ng biyaya mula sa isang taong hindi naman karapat dapat sa biyayang natatamasa niya"... to quote someone's opinion which actually speaks mine also... wahaha...
i just completely do not know why...
i completely do not understand...
naisip ko..
nakakatuwa ba???
(to the point na magtatawanan at maghahagikgikan yung audience, magpapalakpakan at magsisigwan na parang hindi na makahinga sa kakatawa???)
is this really entertainment???
well, i know mababaw at corny akong tao... but i assure you, i know when corny entertainment meets "insulting-to-the-intellect"-corny entertainment... which is i am afraid points to the wowowee crowd..
ewan ko talaga....
siguro because i always remember that old lady, na mukha naman talagang nangangailangan (weakness ko yun eh..) na sumayaw and humiliated herself in public to the tune of the "irritatingly LSS-y" boom tarat tarat...
one look into her eyes, i heard her scream at the top of her lungs "piliin mo ko, wala nang gatas si junior!!"... hehe... mababasa mo sa mga mata niya yung drive at pagpupumilit mapasama sa mga taong willing maging object of humiliation ng show...
hala...sige...hataw..
ayun.. hindi siya napili... matapos ng pagbabakasakali niya, willie revillame looked from afar, seemingly consulting someone na parang judge kung sino ang mas nagmukhang tanga... afterward, he looked at the lady, "hindi eh, dapat yung may iba eh..."
just a big What????
you bas@!%@W&@%...
since when were you given the right to judge someone by not having that something "iba" that you were looking for...
di kasi nagmukhang KATAWA TAWA yung matanda when she danced the stupid song...
ngayon, tell me if i am getting the wrong perception of it...
WOWOWEE's entertainment for me is tantamount to spitting to the poor Juan Dela CRuz' desperation for easy money...
para sa akin, wowowee doesn't give out help (financial help that is), he is giving them suweldo for being the comedic act for the day....
it hurts to see it that way... and even pains me that a whole 17 or what percent of the people are tuning to it... as opposed to the 25 or above percent of ratings from the rival network...
17% of the people are patronizing this nonsense circus shit called a variety program...
uulitin ko, nakakatuwa ba o katawa tawa...
then let's go back to the horrific ULTRA incident...
you know what, i tremendously felt bad when i heard one of the supposed audience of that day's show say, "walang kasalanan si willie... mahal na mahal namin siya... nakakatulong siya sa aming mahihirap..."
bakit???
tulong???
i am not accusing... i am just voicing my opinion... or better yet hatred to the whole bunch of conniving snakes... (hehehe, i just want to use this term.. wahaha...)
i was caught dumbfounded at the sound of the news... a microcosm of the philippines' starving and poverty-stricken people were catapulted into chancing upon help from those people... not the most pleasant thought... it dismays me that they were caught prey to this senseless stupid gala...
furious... siguro nga...
awang awa ako...
yes, i am not rich... that is partly the reason why i am angry to the notion that the rest of my kind are being lured by these pitiful entertainers daw into entering our "tahanan"... para ano???
to help daw... kuno... putris!!!!
at ang kapalit... maging katawa tawa ka... kumanta ka ng nakakairitang mga hits ni victor wood, sumayaw ka na parang may tiwang... at magngangangawa ka sa mikropono sa pagbubulatlat mo ng buhay mo to this apathetic people...
grrrrness talaga...
to think PMPC gave this show an award@$##@@$@ what were they thinking???
haaaayyy...
there is a fine line that separates giving fun to the people from making fun out of people...
wowowee's on the latter category... pitiful, senseless, aweful, stinking... entertainment... and the hosts!@!#!$#!$! the entire phalanx of them... more aweful...
hayy..
now, tell me, do you not loathe wowowee??? or abs cbn for that matter???
ax willie... ax wowowee... ax abs cbn?????!!!! wahahaha...
peace!!!
